I borrowed my brother's digital camera and took a bunch of snaps of my Warhammer stuff. It's pretty heavy nerd content, but it's something I love doing and I think it's worth sharing (especially if you're another Warhammer player). For those of you uninterested in the game I made an attempt to be sarcastic and ironic in my comments. Hope that helps.

I don't know if any of you remember my Blog entry about "So much for your mighty Farseer", but if you do remember; the nerds in question were referring to this guy.
Haven't finished his stick thingie yet, but the rest of him looks not too darn bad, I think. The runes on the base are actually waterslide transfers that I painted over. |
This is the Phoenix Lord Fuegan: God of heartburn. He's supposed to have an axe in his lower hand, but I can't find the damn thing. Maybe he'll use that hand to open brewskis for the other Phoenix Lords. |
| This is a "Shadowseer". Though he's part of my army, he's actually borrowed from a different one, so I did him in somewhat different colors to represent that. Actually, I converted him from Dark Eldar Warrior with green stuff for the head (if you don't do the modeling you won't know what that is) and so on. |
The Warp Spider Exarch. Painting his legs almost drove me over the deep end.I also drew that thing on his head with a 0.05mm pen. That's right; Look at me and my bad self. |
Warp Spider Exarch all close up and stuff. This brings up the first "technical" question of the paint job; those blue dots are supposed to be gems. They don't look too gem like at the moment because I haven't glossed them or done any of the stuff you have to do to make them look like gems. Thing is, with over 100 models, I'm in no rush to put little white dots that look like reflections on every single blue freakin' gem. |
| The Avatar. People tell me he looks pretty good. In a lot of ways he does, but right now I only see mistakes when I look at him. |
Up close to the Avatar. He's also called the "Bloody Handed God". Therefore, the hand is red. Get it? It's painted red like blood.
Shut up. |
This is the Exarch from the Howling Banshee aspect. I like her quite a bit. I painted her white, washed her in purple ink, then in blue, then put the gold on top. Also notice she's got grey hair. This is an army that values women over 45. Don't ever forget it. |
| This is a Dark Reaper. I find the model a wee tiny bit silly looking, but I like the work I did on his skull. |
This is my favorite. This is a Warlock. Sure, I screwed up the flocking (i.e. fake grass) on the base, but the guy looks great. |
This is Karandras, who is another Phoenix Lord. He's green. Not sure where else to go with this explanation. |
| Karandras up close. Like the hair? Straight from the movie Predator, I think. |
Close up of the cockpit of one Wave Serpent. It's obviously not done yet. |
This is a closeup of the Eldar Falcon. Also not done. |
| Close up of the second Wave Serpent. Much closer to done. Notice the gem painting? That's the pain-in-the-ass work that's going to have to go into all those other gems. |
Warp Spider. Great big gun. |
See his shiny forehead? |
| Here's the Howling Banshee Exarch with her homegirls. Same kind of painting treatment (the white paint + purple ink, etc) |
Another Dark Reaper. I only did four of these (one with no skull-head like the others yet). I was experimenting with different kinds of gold-on-black. |
The Reapers aren't done (as you can see from the gun), but they're good enough to play with for now. |
| This is the basic Defender Guardian in my army. Not tons of detail, but I've got about 45 of them painted up so forgive me if I don't have what it takes to do every last bit. I probably will... in time. If my love life is *really* in the dumper. |
Vypers. What I love about the Vypers is how I spent about 100 hours painting them and then realized 90% of my work is covered by the canopy. |
Here's one of those blonde-haired, pickle-faced warriors you hear about. Clear canopy is obviously not there. |
| Pickle face hidden under a helmet. |
Here's something kind of interesting; I'm working on a female Farseer. She's converted from a Bretonnian Sorceress (if you don't know what that is, never mind). I drew runes on her throat and did ornamentation around her eyes with that super thin pen I told you about. |
Here's a closeup. Her Venus DeMilo look will be fixed when I add the Farseer Singing Spear to one hand and a handful of runes to the other. When she has hands, I mean. |
| A little group scene here showing off the terrain and scenery I did. I am pleased with the little trees. In fact, it's been pointed out to me by some friends that I'm a bit too pleased with them. |
Sort of the same thing. Only without the flash. |
This is another Farseer on a jet bike. I converted him from a Shining Spears Exarch. I clipped the hand and spear off one of those standy-up Farseers and put it on him, and I took the fins off the back of an Epic-scale Reaver Titan and put them along the side. Lastly, I took the small wings off the back of the bike and moved them to the canopy. |
| Just another angle on the Farseer. This guy was a lot of work. |
The camera has trouble focusing in on his face, but for what it's worth, here's the front view. |
Here's Fuegan again. Kind of a pull-back body shot. Or something. Whatever. |
| This is the Phoenix Lord Maugen Ra. He's sort of like the George Foreman of Dark Reapers. |
That Shadowseer again. Notice the little Care Bear heart on his belly? |
Howling Banshee Exarch. I wanted to show the blades this time. |
| The first Wave Serpent again. Still not done (missing the turret, among other things), but I like the simplicity of it; just the green with the gold lines. |
The Falcon again. I based it in Testor's gold paint which is somewhat less yellow than the Games Workshop Burnished Gold that I usually use, so I painted over the Testor's with the GW stuff. |
Wave Serpent #2. The turret is mostly done, but no guns on it yet. Also, none of the other crazy crap that Wave Serpents have coming out from underneathe. |
| Here is a batch of Striking Scorpions. They're nothing remarkable, except that the Scorpion Green (a Games Workshop color) is just a great color. You paint them with Scorpion Green, wash them with dark green ink, dry brush with yellow and they make this really great color; brilliant and lush. I like that about these models. |
Here's the Striking Scorpions Exarch. I didn't really put the same work into him that I did with some of the other Exarchs. I guess once I get over the love affair with the green I'm not interested anymore. I'm fickle like that. |
More Banshees. Do I need a reason? |
| Gosh. Almost the exact same shot again. What a sense of composition I have. |
See them bounding over the ruins and onto the battlefie- ok, I need to spend less time with this hobby. |
These are my Guardians (complete with Warlock and Support Weapon Platform). Like almost everything else on this page, they're not quite done, but they strike a fetching pose. I like the way that a few of them are looking back over their shoulders, as if to say "WTF am I doing here?" |
A little closer shot of that Warlock. I like the defiant pose.
Or maybe it's a pose that says "I'm going to plant potatoes... right HERE"
Compare him with the other Warlock to see where all the details are going to get added. |
Here's no-arm Sally again. I didn't want to create an overly sexual female for this Farseer, but unfortunately the model it's converted from is just all boobs-a-poppin'. Not sure what I'm going to do about that. Maybe nothing. |
